That plane had to be made out of the lightest balsa wood he could find. Only balsa wood debris floats out of the sky like that. That's okay for RC Cessna 152s, but when you build a fighter that's supposed to perform, you need a lot stronger material. My guess is if he builds the same plane out of carbon fibre or even fiberglass it will be bullet proof.
